The wife of Assistant Inspector General of Police Joseph Mbu (rtd) was reportedly kidnapped yesterday near her house in the Satellite Town close to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital in Cross Rivers state.
However, when information circulated, police in Calabar promptly got into action and rescued her before much harm was done.
The SSA to Gov Ben Ayade on security, Ajude Ngaji confirmed that combined efforts of the police, DSS and other agencies tremendously helped in the rescue.
Ngaji also disclosed that they have been able to arrest two of her kidnappers who are currently being interrogated.
Regarding the ongoing mayhem unleashed on the city by assorted cult groups hacking down their offending members, Ngaji also informed that they have made useful arrest having saturated black spots in the Calabar South local council area where cult activities are reported to have heightened.
He said the policeman, who was killed yesterday by suspected gangs in the bay side area of Calabar near Obong of Calabar's palace during a four-hour shoot-out with the police, was from Imo State.
