Gombe says records unprecedented achievements

Gombe State Information Commissioner HabuDawaki says Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo’sadministration has executed unprecedented development projects in the last one and a half years.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe, Dawaki said Dankwambo had transformed the state to an “enviable height” since his assumption of office.
The commissioner said the government was paying attention to education, roads and infrastructure, water resources, erosion control, healthcare as well as youth and women empowerment.
He said the government had embarked on a massive construction of roads with a view to opening up the state for agricultural and socio-economic development.
“Right now, Gombe State is a massive construction site, where government has embarked on the construction of 52 township roads within Gombe metropolis.
“There are also inter-town link roads that connect villages and local government headquarters spread across all the 11 local government areas.
“Most of these roads have been completed while some are under construction,” Dawaki said.
The commissioner also said the government was collaborating with the Federal Government in the construction of the 52-km Kanawa-Deba-JauroGotel road at a cost of N6.2 billion.
He said the Federal Government had given the state government the go-ahead to execute the road to be reimbursed later.
Dawaki also said in an effort to make Gombe a modern city, the government had embarked on beautification projects with the installation of street and traffic lights at 19 critical road junctions.
He said the projects had lit up Gombe and reduced incidents of insecurity and theft in the night.
In the education sector, Dawaki said that the government had embarked on construction and rehabilitation of facilities in primary, secondary and tertiary schools.
According to him, the government has spent more than N900 million on a new College of Education in Billiri to produce manpower for the primary and junior secondary schools.
The government, he said, had also established a School for Basic and Remedial Studies at Kumo at the cost of N4.2 billion.
