Kaduna Danmarina/Ibako Oil & Gas polo team has won the most wanted prize, the President’s Cup at this year’s Niger-Delta International Polo tournament.
The Kaduna Danmarina/Ibako Oil & Gas featuring Nigerian most rated Polo player Bello Buba, alongside Honorable Ibrahim Kontagora, Ibrahim Abba Abdulkadir, and Muhammadu Usman Sarki beat Port-Harcourt River Drill 15-3 ½ in the opening match and went all out to outplay Yola Yelwa 11-1 ½ before qualifying for the final, where they beat hard fighting Bankole Foundation parading Rt. Hon. Oladimeji Bankole, Abdulmalik Badamasi, Hamisu Buba and their captain Mustapha Junaid by 3-2 ½ to win the prestigious president Cup.
The final match was played on Saturday January 19 and the presentation of the trophy was performed by Senator Emmanuel Diffa, a member Board of Trustee.
Hon. Ibrahim Kontagora paid glowing tribute to his team mates after they survived the most nerve-racking of scares to write their names in gold.
“The finale was great and I want to thank the players for their concentration and determination and I must also thank our teeming fans for standing by us always” he stated.
“We had to dig deeper than ever before and it’s hard to get it to sink in, but I am so proud of every single one of them,” said Hon. Ibrahim Kontagora after the final game at Port-Harcourt polo ground”.
