Saraha-ProForm Abuja estate residents want revocation investigated

Saraha-ProForm Estate Residents Association, Abuja has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Alhaji Bala Mohammed, to probe the dirty deals associated with the revocation and the purported reallocation of Plot 67 Kafe District, Gawaripa, Abuja. Members of the association are owners of the estate, which they said is worth N160 billion that is under threat of demolition.
The residents while reacting to the recent statement credited to the director, Development Control Department, Mr. Yahaya A. Yusuf, on behalf of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council (AMMC), said that the “wicked attempt by Mr. Yusuf to mislead members of the public and justify the illegality and corrupt practices perpetrated by his office and his associates over the contentious plot is not only ungodly but fraudulent.”
According to the statement issued in Abuja yesterday and signed by Mr. Oluwasegunotta Ojo and Barrister Maureen Ibekwe, chairman and secretary of the association respectively, the residents said that Mr. Yusuf failed woefully to address the fundamental issues earlier raised by the aggrieved residents in their open letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, the minister of FCT and other relevant authorities which boarder on abuse of public office and corrupt practices on the part of some top staff members of the Development Control Department, Land Department and Abuja Geographical Information System (AGIS).
The residents added, “In our letter dated February 4, 2013 to President Goodluck Jonathan, the minister of FCT, Alhaji Bala Mohammed and other relevant authorities, we did said that as at the time of buying our properties from Saraha Homes Limited and Proform West Africa Limited, between 2009 and July 2012, the allocation of Plot 67 Kafe District was in the name of Proform West Africa Limited. In fact, the search sheet printed for us by the Abuja Geographical Information System (AGIS) is our strong evidence on this matter.
“Apparently because Mr. Yusuf was in a hurry to defend his business firm, Winning Clause Limited - the new group laying claim to the plot, he deliberately refused to tell the public at what point in time that the plot was revoked and purportedly reallocated. Let Yusuf make the revocation letter available to members of the public. And let him tell us which newspaper was the notice of revocation published as required by the FCTA’s process in land revocation.”
The residents said they have taken their case to President Jonathan, the FCT minister, the National Assembly, minister of justices, EFCC, ICPC and other relevant authorities.
