...Obi’s faction to hold convention in April
Category: Inside politics Written by -
Factional interim national chairman of APGA, Barrister Maxi Okwu, yesterday in Abuja said the party will on Saturday in Awka Anambra State, hold roll out the programme for the planned national convention of the party coming up in April.
He told newsmen that though the party is facing challenges, members have resolved not to allow the challenges to dampen their resolve to reposition the party.
He also said his leadership has made appreciable progress in bringing top members of the party who had left back to the party fold including Chief Chekwas Okorie, Igbo Delegate Assembly (IDA), Friday Conclave and APGA members in diaspora among others.
“Next Saturday in Awka we would be rolling out our programmes ahead of the national convention scheduled for middle of next April at Nike Lake Resort where in 2001 APGA started,” Okwu said.
On the involvement of Governor Rochas Okorocha’s involvement in the All Progressive Congress (APC), he said no individual is above the party and that because the party is facing challenges now, the issue will be taken care of after the April convention.
He also berated Chief Victor Umeh for acting against the court judgement barring him from parading himself as APGA national chairman saying, the judgement is declarative and subsisting until upturned by the Court of Appeal or the Supreme Court.
