Arewa forum promises to slow down on politics

Northern leaders under the umbrella of Northern Reawakening Forum (NRF) met in Kaduna to fashion out strategies to tackle the challenges bedeviling the region while promising to slow down on partisan politics.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the retreat, chairman of NRF, Muhammad Umara Kumalia said the retreat was organized to proffer solutions to the numerous challenges facing the North.
“This our forum does not have a partisan objectives. We are concerned Northerners from all political parties that come together in order to address the challenges facing our region. This is not a duplication of ACF,” he said.
At the retreat, he said they would look at education, agricultural and oil exploration in the North with a view to addressing the challenge facing sectors.
Speaking at the occasion, former minister of education, Hajia Aisha Dukku who is chairing the education committee of the group said the major challenge facing North is education. According to her, if the problem facing the education sector in the region is addressed, all other challenges including security are going to be a thing of the past.
Former minister of defence (Army), Alhaji Lawal Batagarawa was among the participants at the retreat.
