Opposition parties unite to defeat PDP in Bauchi council polls

Opposition parties in Bauchi State have agreed to come together and work as one for the purpose of defeating the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
Speaking with newsmen separately in Bauchi, chairmen of Congress for Progresive Change (CPC) , All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP) Alhaji Aliyu Saidu and Alhaji Sani Shehu and the spokesman of the Action Congress (ACN)Nasiru Ibrahim Darazo confirmed the development.
Sa’idu of CPC said they decided to support a popular candidate from any political party in each local government to contest against the PDP candidate in order to stop the PDP from maneuvering the election.
Shehu of ANPP on his part said the merger of all the opposition parties if completed, will address the problem because he said the merger will address many differences that may occur in the process of selecting candidates for each of the local governments.
PDP  state assistant publicity secretary Alhaji Bashir Bukar Rimin Zayam in his reaction said the PDP has heard of the plans but that it is ahead of the opposition in terms of preparedness towards the elections.
No date has been fixed for the election but the state government and the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC) has assured the polls would come this year.
