Obi cannot call for APGA meeting - Umeh

National chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Chief Victor Umeh who was removed via a court order last week, has accused Anambra State governor, Peter Obi of trying to destroy the party by sowing seeds of confusion.
Umeh who spoke with newsmen in Abuja yesterday, said the governor has no power to convene any meeting on behalf of the party and threatened to drag Obi to Court if he does anything that will jeopardize his appeal at the Court of Appeal Enugu Division.
The ousted national chairman said the Nigerian Constitution gives him the right to appeal in such cases up to the Supreme Court adding that Obi should not arrogate to himself the powers of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Umeh pointed out that “Obi who has been saying that he believes in the rule of law having won his mandate through the court has shown himself to be a fake democrat with an appeal pending at the Court of Appeal he has swung into action with a bid to overreach the judgment of the Court of Appeal. In the event of his continued plans to continue with his meeting I will drag him to court as he has been trying to destroy the party, he is not a party executive, he does not have any constitutional powers to call any APGA meeting.
Umeh further stated that “When the suit was filed against me I knew that there is no way I would be removed and the whole house will not crumble. I want to tell Obi to stop sowing the seed of confusion in APGA. Because of his short political view he did not envisage that the suit would backfire. I call on him to go back to Anambra State and face governance he has been running the state as a sole administrator we have never interfered so he should leave the party alone, we will call him when there is a NEC meeting that he is a member.
“He cannot take any decision for APGA the Enugu state High Court is not the Supreme Court and for him to try to short circuit the appeal process has exposed him as a fraud and a fake democrat. He should go to Awka and convene the State Executive Council meeting. Obi does not enjoy the confidence of the party members as he has not empowered anybody in the party and now that his almost at the end of his tenure nobody will take him serious” he declared.
Umeh has filed an appeal in the Court of Appeal, Enugu Division, to secure an order to set aside last Friday’s decision by an Enugu State High Court, which ordered his removal as the party’s chairman and also sacked the entire National Working Committee (NWC).
