Buhari, Tinubu won’t drop ambitions for merger

Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) has said Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and Senator Bola Tinubu would not be required to drop their ambitions when the CPC  and ACN merger is actualised.
National publicity secretary of the CPC, Rotimi Fashakin, told Daily Trust on phone that it is wrong for anyone to be speculating whether Buhari would contest the 2015 election or not when Buhari was categorical that his contesting the election would be based on what the CPC decides.
“How can some persons be talking about Buhari stepping down or dropping his ambition when the parties involved in the merger talks have not formalised the merger discussion? He has said we the party members would be responsible for what would happen since we were the ones that asked him to contest.
This is the handiwork of the PDP, it is their (PDP) agenda for they are the one jittery that Nigerians are tired of their misrule and use the merger of the opposition to vote them out,” Fashakin said.
He also said despite the earlier plan not to include members of the Board of Trustees (BOT) or National Executive Committee (NEC) as  members of the merger committee, the inclusion of three of such in the merger committee was the choice of party members who insisted on their inclusion.
