Plateau Labour Party guber candidate returns to PDP

A chieftain of the Labour Party (LP) in Plateau State and its guber-natorial candidate in 2007 election, Engineer Jimmy Cheto has decam-ped to People’s Democratic (PDP). Cheto formally returned to the PDP Monday at a ceremony in the Turaki Ward of his home town, Mabudi, in Langtang South Local Government Area of the state.

Cheto who moved out of Labour Party with all the party officials in Langtang South Local Government Area was received by PDP leaders in the ward and local government as well as hundreds of party supporters, other well-wishers, and women groups.

Speaking at the event, Cheto said: “I am proud to come back home, I am proud to build this party and ready to serve the party at all levels. I promise to be loyal to PDP right from ward to national level, and I will abide by the party’s guidelines.”

Cheto who left PDP in 2006 to Labour Party towards the 2007 elections, said that he was back to the party in line with the call by the national leadership of the party and Governor Jonah Jang that aggrieved party members should go back to their various electoral wards and register.

“I was part of those who brought back PDP to Plateau State when Governor Joshua Dariye was suspended and he decamped to ACN. We worked in building the party, so I am happy to formally come back home”, he said.

PDP chairman in Turaki ward, Bright Talgzhi, said:”I am very happy to welcome one of the able sons of the land and you should be very courageous in terms of your intentions, bearing in mind that God’s time is the best in everything we do.”
