Developer sues CPC, claims N1 billion damage

Following the recent raids on its offices by officials of the Consumer Protection Council (CPC), El-Salem Nigeria Limited has filed a suit against the council and eight others before a Federal Capital Territory High Court, claiming damages.
Executive Director of the company, Michael Onyebuchi, said in a statement that the company is seeking N1billion damage from the CPC “for the unlawful raid and confiscation of its office files and working equipment.”
“The company is also claiming against the CPC and eight other defendants for loss of goodwill and business patronage caused by the libelous publication made by the CPC and eight defendants against the company on the 26 and 27 of February, 2013 respectively,” the statement added.
No date has been fixed for hearing of the case.
