Robbers kill 5, injure others in Zamfara

Suspected robbers have killed at least five people and injured six others in Dauki village, Tsafe local govern-ment area of Zamfara state.
The attack came after concilia-tory talks between Fulani herdsmen and the vigilante group was announced by the stakeholders.
Atiku Ibrahim whose brother was killed told Daily Trust that two suspected robbers initially carted away 32 cows from the neighboring villages but were intercepted by the vigilante group.  One of the robbers, named Dogo was subsequently arrested by villagers while his accomplices escaped.
“Two days later, the robbers numbering about seven carrying AK 47 rifles invaded the village and killed five residents including my elder brother,” Ibrahim said.
Daily Trust learnt that the robbers launched a counter attack after being told that Dogo was captured by the villagers.
The commissioner of police in the state Mr Akila Gwary has confirmed the incident.
