Army denies killing Keffi students

The Army headquarters in Abuja yesterday said soldiers of the 177 Guards Battalion Keffi drafted to quell students uprising at the Nasarawa State University were not behind the killing of four students. Two students hit by bullets were killed during the protest and soldiers were said to have fired the shots. Reports from the Federal Medical Centre Keffi confirmed the students died as a result of gunshot wounds. Director of Army Public Relations Brigadier General Ibrahim Attahiru said soldiers sent to suppress the riot were not behind the killings adding that they did not fire live ammunitions during the riots. He said the soldiers have restored normalcy since.
