Fuel subsidy: EFCC re-arraigns marketers

Three oil marketers and two oil-marketing and trading (OM&T) firms have been re-arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)before a Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja over alleged subsidy scam of N1.5 billion.

Ifeanyi Anosike, Emeka Chukwu, Ngozi Ekeoma, Anosyke Group of Companies Limited and Dell Energy Limited, were re-arraigned before Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo, on an eight count charge bordering on conspiracy to obtain by false pretence, forgery and documents falsification.

The anti-graft agency alleged that the suspects fraudulently received N1.5 billion from the Petroleum Support Fund for a purported supply of 38,010,413.00 litres of Premium Motor Spirit.

The marketers were alleged to have perpetrated the crime, using fake documents. The defendants were arraigned before Justice Habeeb Abiru last year before his elevation to the Court of Appeal. They pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Justice Onigbanjo subsequently fixed July 3, 2013, for trial and asked the defendants to continue to enjoy the bail granted them earlier by Justice Abiru.
