Jonathan approves Justice Archibong’s sack, extends Bulkachuwa’s tenure

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has approved the compulsory retirement of Justice Charles Efanga Archibong of the Federal High Court, Lagos.
But the NJC referred Justice Thomas Naron case to the Plateau state Governor Jonah Jang for compulsory retirement.
According to a statement by the acting director Information of the NJC, Soji Oye, said the president also approved the extension of the tenure of Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa as Acting President of the Court of Appeal. Both approvals followed the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC) after its Emergency Meeting presided by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Mariam Aloma Mukhtar on Wednesday.
The NJC had in the last meeting recommended the immediate and compulsory retirement of two judges: Charles Archibong of the Lagos High Court and Thomas Naron of the Plateau State High Court. It further announced the probe of the third judge Abubakar Talba over his ruling on the N33 billion pension scam case with the EFCC.
