Governors to elect new chair in May

A meeting of the Nigerian Governors Forum ended in Abuja last night with a resolution to shift the election of their new officials till May this year.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, forum chairman Rotimi Amaechi, said the governors reviewed its affairs for the past 21 months, detailing achievements and challenges during the period.
“After exhaustive deliberation of issues regarding filling vacant positions, the forum resolved that election be postponed till May when the current chairman’s initial two year tenure would expire,” he said.
At their meeting on Wednesday, the governors failed to agree on several issues even as an alleged plot to remove the current chairman was reportedly foiled.
