Five Nasarawa villages razed down in renewed hostilities

Renewed hostilities between peasants and nomads, rocked five villages in Udege Development Area of Nasarawa State, early hours of today, with one killed and houses and other properties burnt down.
 
Daily Trust reports that trouble started after a man was allegedly killed on his farm by persons believed to be Fulani nomads, at the weekend, following which the deceased kinsmen from Udeni-Magaji allegedly stormed a Fulani settlement close by and burnt it down, in a reprisal.
 
By early hours of Monday, Fulani nomads, allegedly stormed four villages, namely Ogeni, Immigbin, Ologocho and Gidsan Musa – all in Udeni-Magaji, and burned down houses and other valuables.
 
State police spokesman, DSp Michael Ada confirmed the incident, and said the state police commissioner had already directed truck loads of armed policemen to be sent there. “Our men are presently on ground there. They have brought normalcy to the area”, DSP Ada said.
