Lovers arrested over kidnap of 14-year-old boy

Police in Lagos have arrested two lovers for allegedly kidnapping a 14-year-old boy at Ikotun area of the metropolis.
The suspects identified as Raymond Quadri, 28, and Bolanle Fasasi, allegedly demanded N2 million as ransom from the parents of their victim, identified simply as Daniel.
Police report has it that both Quadri and the victim are neighbours at 51 Lasisi Ige Street, Ikotun.
The suspect confessed to have lured the victim out of their Ikotun residence, before heading to Ikorodu, where he kept the boy in custody of his girl friend.
“I told Daniel to accompany me to Ikorodu penultimate Saturday. It was when I got to Ikorodu that I told my girlfriend about the plans to collect N2 million from Daniel’s parent,” he added.
However, the second suspect denied being in the know of the plan to kidnap the boy.
“Quadri once introduced Daniel to me as his younger brother. So when they came to my place at Agric area of Ikorodu, I had no idea that the boy was being kidnapped,” she said.
The 19-year-old hairdresser further said that she became wary of the whole thing, when she placed a call to her lover on Monday to demand to know if the victim was not going to school that day.
She said she first heard about the kidnap plot from the victim who told her that Quadri had arranged for him to be kidnapped.
“I strongly believe that the victim is in the know of the kidnap plot, but whether he knows what kidnapping really is, I don’t know,” she said.
Parading the suspects, the Lagos State police spokesperson, Ngozi Braide stated that luck ran out on the suspects when neighbours told Daniel’s parents that they saw their son in company of Quadri on the day he was kidnapped.
“He was arrested and taken to Ikotun police station, where he denied having anything to do with the disappearance of the victim,” she added.
Braide said the suspect confessed to the crime after he was transferred to the State Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).
“He later took the police to his girl friend’s place at Ikorodu where he kept the boy,” she added.
