Plateau signs contracts for Jos flyover, 9 other projects

The Plateau State government yesterday signed contracts for the execution of ten road projects in and outside the state capital, Jos, including a flyover to decongest traffic which usually builds up around the secretariat junction.

PW Nigeria Ltd, which was signed on to construct the secretariat junction flyover at the cost of N4.69 billion, was also engaged to dualize the Old Airport-Rayfield-Uma Bread road, also within the state capital, at N6.33 billion.

The road spanning Bisichi-Korot-Fan-Mangu Halle as well as that of Jos-Mazah are to be constructed at N3.48 billion and N1.99 billion respectively by Eighteenth Engineering Company Ltd, while Rukuba-Miango-Farin Lamba road with spur to Dochai & School of Accountancy as well as Tahoss-Rim-Batchit-Shunong-Jol-Tashek-Gashish road projects were contracted respectively at N3.2 billion and N4.99 billion to Ric Rock Nigeria Ltd.

Jebbu-Bassan Binchi, Zagun-Buyu road and Bukuru Lowcost-Nyabgo Gyel road were signed for construction to United Radak Ltd and Jodalsam Global Ltd for N1.39 billion and N204 million respectively, while Retro Construction Company Ltd and SALTA Integrated Nigeria LTD were signed on to construct the Langtang-Garkawa-Yelwa-Shendam road with spur to Lalin and Mangu-Bwai-Mushu road at N3.9 and N1.03 billion respectively.

The state’s Commissioner of Works, Christopher Hassan, urged the contractors to mobilise to their respective sites immediately and execute their projects in ways that will best serve the interest of Plateau people.
