Nigeria to host Commonwealth forum on distance learning

Nigeria would learn best practices from other countries when it hosts the 7th PAN Commonwealth forum on distance learning.
Minister of education Professor Ruqayyatu Ahmed Rufa’i announced Tuesday that Nigeria would be the first African country to host the forum after India.
Rufa’i said the conference which would hold in the 4th quarter of 2013 is expected to attract 800 participants from the 54 Commonwealth member nations, ICT corporations, civil society organizations, international development partners, members of the academia, the media and other stakeholders.
She said by hosting the conference, Nigeria would imbibe practices that would transform open and distance learning educational activities in the country.
Chairman, Local Organizing Committee, Prof. Vincent Ado Tenebe Vice Chancellor, National Open University of Nigeria called on stakeholders in the education sector to cooperate so Nigeria surpasses what India achieved when they hosted the 6th conference.
