I will die serving humanity –Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that he would rather die doing good to humanity than retire. Obasanjo made the remarks at the inauguration of his charity organisation, Olusegun Obasanjo Foundation (OOF), in London at the weekend.
In a conversation with a former British cabinet minister Lord Mandelson, Obasanjo said he would emulate Jesus Christ “who died doing good.”
He said “can one retire from doing good” in response to Mandelson’s question on when he would retire from public engagements.
He advised Africans, particularly the leaders to embrace change and reform because “nothing is static in life,” adding that those who fear change should realise that “the consequences of not changing are worse than change.”
His foundation will focus on girl-child education, gender equality, food security, youth empowerment and employment, as well as health improvement initiative in non-communicable diseases.
