Kaduna gov laments over declining revenue

Governor Muhktar Ramalan Yero of Kaduna State at  the weekend lamented over what he described as decline in internally generated revenue of the state, saying the trend must be checked in order to fast track development.
Speaking when he received a group, C2G Consulting and SAP Africa, led by Onyekachi Uzukane, the governor said he is not satisfied with the current situation, and that efforts must be made to reinforce the revenue generating drive.
Yero, in a statement by his media aide, Ahmed Maiyaki, said the state government will partner stakeholders to improve on the revenue.
“Instead of the state internally generated revenue to be increasing annually, it is on the decline. I will like to know what are the causes and challenges. Government is going to fully concentrate on revenue generation by encouraging people to promptly and regularly pay their taxes as well as other revenues due to the state,” he said.
He urged members of the public to cooperate with the government, saying the revenue would be used to provide basic social amenities to better their lives.
Earlier, Mr Onyekachi Uzukane expressed the resolve of his firm to partner the state government through sustained working relationship to ensure that all necessary avenues of revenue generation are utilised.
