Kogi to assist artisans, market women access loans

The Kogi State government said at the weekend that it will set up a committee to ensure that indigenes of the state who are in the informal sector access the cooperative housing development loan of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.
Governor Idris Wada stated this when he received the Assistant General Manager and Head of the Informal Sector, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Shehu Usman Osidi, who was on an advocacy visit to the state.
Represented by his deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, Wada said his administration is resolute in providing housing to the people of the state.
He said there is a plan to build houses on higher grounds to enable people living along the flood plains to be relocated. Earlier, the Assistant General Manager and Head of the Informal Sector, Shehu Usman Osidi, lamented that those working in the informal sector of the economy have not benefited from the scheme.
He said the new housing construction loans to co-operatives by the bank will enable artisans, market women and others to own houses.
