World powers should reject stolen crude oil- NSCDC boss

World powers must agree not to purchase stolen crude oil to help Nigeria in the fight against oil thieves and vandals, the Commandant-General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has said.

Dr. Ade Abolurin in a media chat with Times News Paper of London in his office at the Corps Headquarters in Abuja, made the plea.

He maintained that international community can collaborate in fighting oil theft and vandalism in Nigeria by refusing to patronise stolen crude from Nigeria.

"If in Europe, American, Asian and other countries of the world where crude oil are exported to stand their ground and say no to the sale of illegal oil or, it will put a stop to such nefarious activities of vandals.

"It is when this is done that there will be reduction in oil theft, piracy, vandalism and illegal bunker because there will be no market to sell stolen product says Abolurin.
 
He stressed the Corps readiness to tackle the menace of vandalism by embarking on extensive enlightenment programmme on the evil of vandalism, oil theft and illegal bunkering as well as its devastating effect on the economic growth and development of the nation.
 
Also, the NSCDC boss said the Corps was ready to partner other stakeholders in fighting the scourge of vandalism in the Nation.

Nigeria, the safest

Reacting to a question on security state of Nigeria, he stated that Nigeria is one of the safest place for investors no matter how the image had been negatively portrayed before the outside world.

"There is no society that is completely crime free whether developed or underdeveloped. Therefore, whatever is perceived or witnessed in Nigeria is lesser compare to what happens in other countries of the world.

"Nigeria should not be perceived as the only country that has challenges. With the Transformation Agenda of Mr. President all the challenges will soon be over", Dr Abolurin maintained.
