Ports reforms slowing down manufacturers – MAN

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) yesterday spoke on the ongoing reforms at the nation’s ports, saying the exercise is “injurious to the manufacturers”.
Chairman of the association for Kwara and Kogi states Princess Omolola Olabayo told newsmen in Ilorin that the reforms have stymied manufacturers’ productivity.
The reforms, according to her, were being implemented without prior notice to manufacturers. She said the association had lodged its complaints about the reforms to relevant authorities.
“The reforms at the port are giving us problems. Our raw materials are not cleared on time and we pay more money on import duty. We can’t remain giant as long as we depend on other countries for our needs, especially on manufactured goods,” she said.
