Civil defence arrests 12 ‘black marketers’ in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps yesterday said it arrested 12 black marketers who attacked three personnel of the corps in Dutse recently.
Mahmoud Fari of the command said “we got reports from our intelligence officers that sales of kerosene was going on at NNPC Mega Station in Dutse but majority of the sales were going to the black marketers and as such our officers and men were deployed to the station to ensure there is equity in the dispensing of the products to the civilian population.
“The officials of the Mega Station and black marketers were not happy with our men who were trying to bring order and sanity to the place. They were attacked with knives and matchets resulting to serious injury of about five of our officers”.
He said the officers that were attacked were indigenes of Dutse and they knew all their attackers, saying 12 persons were arrested and they are cooling their heels in the cell pending conclusion of investigation before their prosecution.
