Offa PDP flays ACN over councils’ dissolution
Category: News
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Offa in Kwara State yesterday flayed the National Publicity Secretary of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Alh. Lai Mohammed, over his comments on the dissolution of Offa and Oyun councils by the Kwara State government.
The PDP described Mohammed’s comments as not only “uncalled for but hypocritical.”
The party insisted that there was no selective justice in the government’s decision as the affected council chairmen of Offa and Oyun “who are of different political leanings could not control the major motor parks under their jurisdiction.”
The ACN national publicity secretary had in a statement faulted the dissolution of the councils and urged the state government to rescind its decision.
But the Offa chapter of the PDP, in a statement jointly signed by its chairman, Alh. Goke Rabiu and secretary, Alh. Lasun Olarinoye, expressed support for the government’s action.
“The recent communal clash between the Offa and the Erin-Ile communities in Kwara State deserves a painstaking diagnosis for a far-reaching and lasting solution. We are therefore in total support of the various steps taken so far by the state government on the crisis,” the party said.
