Navy to complete 32-year-old hospital
Category: News
New Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral Joe Aikhomu, has expressed hope that during his tenure, the Navy referral hospital in Calabar which was abandoned in the 1980s for lack of funds, will be completed.
Aikhomu who spoke when he visited the site, said there was a need for expert advice on technicalities regarding the project so that the command can present a clear picture to higher authorities.
He expressed the determination of the command to work with the authorities concerned for speedy completion of the hospital, which he said would not benefit Navy personnel alone, but the general public as well.
“This hospital, when eventually resuscitated, would provide adequate and quality medical services to personnel of the Navy, the host community and Nigerians in general. The Eastern Naval Command will work assiduously to ensure that the hospital is completed and is given necessary boost and support to ensure its relevance and impact in the state,” he said.
