Embattled Chairman of Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Abdulrasheed Maina, has fired back at the Police, saying the “declaration” of his arrest amounted to an abuse of power.

In a statement he personally signed yesterday Maina said that the purported declaration by the Nigeria Police that he is wanted came to him as a surprise.

“The said declaration by the Nigeria Police is definitely an abuse of power in a democracy”, he said, adding that there was no time he was invited either verbally or in writing by the Nigeria Police for any reason whatsoever.

“It is after such invitation has been dishonored that an order for his arrest can be employed, followed by declaring me wanted”, he said.

Maina alleged the conduct of the police is suspect adding, “I am not a criminal to be declared wanted just like that”, he said.
