The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) merger committees will meet Tuesday over the integration of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in the ongoing merger negotiations by opposition parties, Daily Trust leant yesterday. A source close to members of the two committees told Daily Trust that the meeting would be in Abuja.
“We are not unaware of the subtle moves by the PDP to infiltrate and cause disharmony, since we are aware of their game plan, we have put measures in place and would formalise how to prevent such infiltration on Tuesday. We are also likely to talk to ourselves not to allow the possible contest or political ambitions of our leaders, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju (Bola Tinubu) affect our activities,” one of the sources said.
A member of the ACN committee said the Tuesday’s meeting was part of the fall out of the maiden meeting of the ACN merger committee held by the committee’s chairman, Chief Tom Ikimi last Tuesdays where modalities to fast-track the merger plan was discussed.
ACN spokesman, Lai Mohammed, was not available for comment as he did not answer his calls, while the CPC spokesman, Rotimi Fashakin, said he was aware of the meeting but could disclose the agenda.
