I’m fully in charge, says Enugu acting gov

Acting Governor of Enugu State, Sunday Onyebuchi, yesterday said he is fully in charge of governing his state as power was duly handed over to him by Governor Sullivan Chime before embarking on a foreign trip. He spoke yesterday at a town hall meeting which marked the end of the National Good Governance Tour in Enugu State.
There have been comments on whether Chime’s absence has created a vacuum in governance and if the deputy governor had the authority to act in his absence. But Onyebuchı said Chime had through a letter to the State House of Assembly handed over power to him to take charge of the state and also asked the Assembly to give him all support. He said the state has no problem with governance as all that needs to be done is properly attended to.
He also dismissed insinuations that he was given an approval limit of N500,000.
Chime embarked on a foreign medical trip some months ago. Only last week he was reported to have said he is doing well and will return to Nigeria soon.
