As early as 8 o’clock in the morning, the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan had been besieged by hundreds of Hausa speaking residents in the region who were singing and dancing to assorted solidarity songs just as they intermittently chorused the slogan ‘Sai Buhari! Sai Baba!! Sai Buhari! Sai Baba!!’
Addressing the group, their Leader, Alhaji Hassan Isiaka Sarkin Kudun Yamma, said the Arewa Community in the South West are supporting Buhari’s election because the former military Head of State has the qualities to restore sanity into the national life which, according to him, is presently at its lowest ebb.
The leader lamented the spate of corruption in the country and insisted that the nation needs an urgent positive change.
“We are very hopeful that General Buhari is sincere and capable of leading the country out of its present messy situation,” he stated just as he called on all Arewa people in the South West to ensure they collected their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) to enable them vote during the elections.
He condemned those who have been going about casting aspersions on the integrity of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in its move to use the card reader to checkmate fraudulent practices at the polls.
According to him, the group have absolute confidence in INEC and its chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega.
