Wase killings: Miyetti-Allah takes delivery of 53 wandering cows

Fifty three cows found wandering around Wase local government area of Plateau State after their owners fled their herds for safety on the wake of attacks around the area towards the weekend have been handed to the leadership of Miyetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Wase.

A top security official around the area, who sought anonymity for not being the right person to speak to journalists, said officials of Miyetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) had received the cows from traditional leaders who retrieved the cows and had been keeping them for onward delivery to the owners.

Bar Solomon Dalung, a former council chairman of neigbouring Langtang South local government area who spoke on the issue, said he gathered reliably that concerned traditional leaders in the Farin Ruwa community of Wase decided to retrieve the wandering cows and hand them over to MACBAN to avoid the cows from getting into wrong hands and possibly causing fresh violence.

This is a twist from an earlier story which hit the Jos media circle in the afternoon of yesterday that 200 cows belonging to the Boggwom-speaking people of Wase LGA had been rustled by invading Fulani herdsmen.
