Non-issuance of new driver’s license worries motorists in Damaturu

Private and commercial motor drivers in Damaturu in Yobe State have complained over non-issuance of new driver’s license by the state board of internal revenue.

It was gathered that many drivers have applied for fresh and renewal of the new driver’s license long ago but could not get it yet.

Many of them also lamented bad experience at the expiration of temporary driver’s license. Malam Moh’d Y Moh’d, for example, said his temporary license had expired since December 31, 2012, and this had caused him a lot of harassment by FRSC officials on the high way.

Another motorist, Malam Lawal Honorable, said he went to bank to open a new account, but could not because his temporary driver’s license had expired. “When I went for renewal, the license officer insisted that they only issue it once”, he said.
