Zamfara killer cop faces special marshal

The Zamfara state police command on Wednesday said it has set up a special marshal to investigate the police corporal accused of shooting his mother to death.
The command’s public relations officer, Malam Hassan Talba, told newsmen in Gusau that the special marshal would try Abdullahi on charges of public misconduct and culpable homicide.
Cpl. Adamu Abdullahi was on Dec. 25, arrested after firing 15 rounds of live ammunition on the left thigh of his mother on returning home from duty in the midnight.
The Police said Abdullahi, who allegedly consumed excessive alcohol on the duty post had made his first attempt to kill the mother, Hajiya Balaraba Abdullahi, during the 2011 Christmas celebration.
Talba said Abdullahi risked dismissal from service and prosecution in court if proved guilty by the panel.
He also said that police had arrested the principal suspect in the assassination of the former Zamfara Commissioner for Science and Technology, Alhaji Ibrahim Sani.
Sani was assassinated in December 2012 by gunmen shortly after his sunset prayer on Sokoto bye-pass road, Gusau.
The commissioner died on the spot and his Hyundai Saloon car was stolen during the incident. (NAN)
