Man arraigned for selling fake drugs in Ile-Ife

A middle age man, Adewale Adebayo, has been arraigned before a federal high court Osogbo in Osun State by the National Agency for Foods and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) for selling counterfeit drugs in Ile-Ife.
Counsel to NAFDAC Dr Benson Enikuomehin told the court that the accused person displayed fake drugs for the purpose of sale. The drugs include Ciprotab 500mg, Fansidar, Zinnat tablets, Auqmentine, Amalar and Amplicox Syrup.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to four count charge levelled against him but the court could not proceed on the case yesterday because the Investigating Police Officer (IPO) on the matter who was supposed to give witness in the court is on maternity leave.
According to the charge sheet, Adebayo was not duly registered by the appropriate authorities or licensed to display or sell drugs.
The judge, Justice Babs Kuewumi, adjourned the case till March 11.
