The Oyo State House of Assembly on Tuesday in Ibadan directed that a warrant of arrest be made against some principal officers of the State for their failure to appear before the House.
The House issued the directive at its plenary presided over by the Speaker Monsurat Sunmonu.
The affected officers are the State Accountant General, Permanent Secretary and Director of Local Government Inspectorate of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
According to the lawmakers, the warrant of arrest on the State officers became imperative over their failure to appear before the Parliamentary Council of the House as earlier directed at its sitting of Thursday, March 5, 2015.
In his remarks after the Speaker had read the two correspondences available to the lawmakers, Hon. Fakorede Farinto representing Iwajowa State Constituency described the attitude of the State Officers as degrading to the office of the Speaker and the State House of Assembly in general.
The lawmaker who expressed disappointment at what he called the nonchalant attitude of the officers to appear before the House to explain details of income and expenditure of the excess crude oil allocation to the 33 Local Government Councils of the State said the House should invoke section 129 of Nigeria Constitution to compel their appearance.
The House, therefore, re-directed that the affected officers earlier invited should appear at the next plenary slated for Thursday, March 12, 2015.
