Katsina Hajj c’ttee recommends early airlift of medical team

The Katsina State 2012 Hajj Committee has submitted its report to the state government, recommending the need for early airlift of medical team to Saudi Arabia for the subsequent hajj exercises.
Chairman of the committee, Justice Umar Abdullahi while presenting the report to Governor Ibrahim Shema at Government House yesterday, said the committee had noticed that some pilgrims normally fell sick after arriving at the holy land and needed medical attention while the medical personnel were not there.
Justice Abdullahi also said government should always provide enough funds for the purchase of drugs, especially malaria and other malaria related drugs while at the holy land.
Government, according to him, should ensure prompt payment of hajj officials of their allowances, suggesting that “the allowances should be paid in sequence; they should collect 1/3 of it in Nigeria, another 1/3 in Saudi and the balance after hajj exercise.”
On the issue of Muharram, the chairman said government should ensure that all female pilgrims from the state were attached to a genuine Muharram as enshrined by Shari’ah so as to avoid embarrassment at the holy land.
Responding, Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema assured government of the committee’s determination to implement all its recommendations for better hajj exercise in the subsequent years.
