Trust Dialogue holds today

The 10th edition of the Daily Trust annual dialogue holds this morning at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja under the chairmanship of the former President of Botswana and recipient of the Mo Ibrahim Prize for Exemplary African Leadership, Mr Festus Mogae.

The event, which will be aired live by the Independent African Television (AIT) from 10am, is organized by the Media Trust Limited, publishers of the Daily Trust, Weekly Trust, Sunday Trust and Aminiya.

House of Representatives Speaker Aminu Waziri Tambuwal is scheduled to be the special guest of honour. Four speakers would deliver lectures under the theme Nation Building: Challenges and Reality.

The speakers are: Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Bishop Mathew Kukah; rights activist Ms Ann-Kio Briggs; former President of the West African Bar Association, Mr Femi Falana and Director African Research and Development Agency, Dr Sule Bello.

Mogae, who arrived in the country on Monday night, said there is hope for Nigeria in spite of the security challenges facing the country.

“There is hope for Nigeria. There is no country that does not have its challenges. This is Nigeria’s challenge and it will come out of it even stronger than before. This is just a phase,” he said while speaking with our reporter.

Speaking on the dialogue, he said “I am happy and excited to be here again. At the dialogue tomorrow, I will be expecting a robust dialogue; a good debate that can move the country forward.”

Captains of industries, banks executives, civil servants, politicians, entrepreneurs, academics, the media and students, are expected to attend the annual dialogue.
