NSCDC disassociates itself from recruitment website
Category: News
The management of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has disassociated itself from a website opened within the week by fraudsters, asking Nigerians to submit their credentials for employment into the Corps. In a statement issued by the NSCDC through its Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Okeh, it warned applicants to ignore the online advertisements on recruitment into the Corps.
"The Corps wishes to state with emphasis that the general public should be wary of the website: www.interior.gov.ng asking applicants to upload their cvs and warning them that the closing date is 17/1/2013.
"This includes any other unofficial websites created for the purpose of advertising job vacancies on behalf of the organisation with the intention of defrauding applicants by demanding for money.
"As a matter of facts, the Corps recruitment exercise in the past have never been through any website, purchase of scratch cards nor application forms rather, by placement of advertisement in National dailies by the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Service Board for applicants to apply" the statement reads in part.
While warning applicants to desist from patronising those who through the websites are demanding money for recruitment. Mr. Okeh said the Corps had not at any time commission or hire consultants and agents on job/recruitment matters and it has no intention for such.
"Applicants should exercise restraints and be careful of fraudsters as the Corps will not take responsibility for anyone who as a matter of fact patronise websites and job scammers by paying money."
Tackling fraudsters
The Corps' Spokesman however, said the Corps was not sleeping over the matter as frantic efforts were being made to get those behind the scam.
"The Corps has arrested a substantive number of persons at different locations in connection with the illegal websites and extortion of money from members of the public under the pretence that they are going to offer them job into different services including the Corps.
"It is on this premise that the Corps is urging the public to be vigilant and report anyone suspected to be connected or directly involved in this nefarious act.
"The Corps for now wishes to state categorically that there is no vacancy for now and it has no intention to recruit. Therefore, applicants should be careful of scammers and 419ers.
He threatened that both the giver and taker will be treated as one common criminal when apprehended.
The NSCDC paraded three recruitment scammers at its headquarters within the week.
