Reps move to decongest ports

The House of Representatives yesterday moved to address the lingering congestion at Nigerian ports which leads to loss of “huge revenue” by the government.
In a resolution on a motion sponsored by Rep. Kingsley Chida (PDP, Rivers), the House mandated its committees on Finance, Customs and Excise and Marine Transport to “immediately investigate the matter and report back within three weeks.”
Leading debate on the motion, Rep. Chinda lamented that, “the congestion in the ports is insanity, portrays a false sense of non-functionality as. Well as pose very serious safety and environmental problems.”
