Two convicted over bags of ginger

A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Kafanchan in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna state has sentenced two young men to two years jail term each for failing to deliver bags of ginger to their customer.
Idi Adamu 34years from Gidan Mana Kachia Local Government Area and his accomplice Hassan Adamu 40 years of the same address were sentenced to jail by the court with an option of fine.
The men were also ordered by the court to pay a compensation of N4.6 million to the complainant or go to jail for five years in default.
Delivering his judgment, the trial Chief Magistrate, Mr Samuel Sambo Daka sentenced Idi Adamu to two years six months in jail with an option of N25, 000 fine.
His accomplish, Hassan Adamu was also jailed one year six months with an option of N15, 000 fine for conspiracy and breach of trust.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Luke Obi told the court that the convicts had last year collected the sum of N5.1 million from one retired captain
Usman Saleh of Gidan Jibrin, Kachia Local Government, through Malam Nura Usman to procure for the complainant, 600 bags of ginger at N8,500 each but delivered 50 bags without the balance of 450 bags contrary to section 97,212 and 320 of the penal code.
The two accused pleaded guilty to all the charges.
