Sugar cane seller stabs teenager to death

A sugar cane seller who is now on the run yesterday caused the death of 19- year -old Umar Abdulrahman by stabbing him on the chest at a Hausa suburb area in Makurdi, Benue state.
Daily Trust gathered that the sugar cane seller took offence over an argument between him and the deceased following the low price that the later offered to purchase the item.
According to witnesses, the late Umar who resides at No. 20 Kano
Street, Wadata changed his mind about buying the sugar cane and went into his room while the seller grudgingly left the surrounding in protest.
But, unknown to anyone else, the sugarcane seller who is said to be a Nigerien national laid ambush within the vicinity for Umar who later strolled out of his house to go to visit a nearby relation.
It was gathered that the evil-minded sugarcane hawker thereafter came out of his hiding and accosted the late teenager, demanding to know what gave him the audacity to under price his item.
And before, either the late boy or anyone could intervene, the hawker brought out a sharp knife and stabbed Umar at his chest and took to his heels immediately it was discovered that the teenager collapsed on the spot.
Police authorities who confirmed the incident could not ascertain the identity of the sugarcane hawker but said that investigation is ongoing to fish out the murderer.
