TUC to protest FCT minibus ban

FCT chapter of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) yesterday condem-ned the restriction of commercial mini buses in new transport policy unveiled by the FCT administration.

Contributors at the triennial TUC Council Congress at the Sheraton Hotels, Abuja yesterday urged workers to resist the developments in the FCT.

The chapter chairman, Aliyu Musa Abdulhakeem, described the introduction of traffic law without proper consultation as a direct affront on workers in the territory.

In his speech, NLC FCT chapter chairman, Yahaya Mohammed, said the commercial bus ban would worsen commuters’ hardship in the FCT and called for street protest against the policy.

The President of Senior Staff of Communications Transport and Corporation (SSACTAC) of the Federal Housing Authority, Saad Aminu Usman, lamented the inability of the Federal Housing Authority to provide affordable accommodation for workers due to absence of funding.
