Fertility Treatment Support Foundation (FTSF) in partnership with Nordica Fertility Centre, Lagos has announced its desire to pay for the free treatment of three fertility challenged couples in three of its clinics situated in Abuja, Asaba and Lagos.
At a press briefing held in Lagos, the centre’s managing director (Lagos and Asaba), Dr Abayomi Ajayi said the centre will be celebrating her 10th year anniversary and that the free treatment of three couples with infertility challenges is part of activities lined up to commemorate the feat.
“According to research, one out of every four couples is fertility-challenged, thereby, informing the appreciable demand for Assisted Reproductive Treatment (ART) solutions.
However, the affordability of the treatment is one of the most common causes for concern of the fertility-challenged couples.
Therefore, to keep the dreams of fertility-challenged couples alive, Fertility Treatment Support Foundation (FTSF) was born,” Dr Ajayi said.
The managing director further noted that the fertility centre has indeed provided free fertility treatment for 25 couples with diverse infertility challenges with beneficiaries having their children.
He noted that the 2013 edition of Fertility Treatment Support Fertility (FTSF) campaign is open to all indigent infertility challenged Nigerian couples from all the regions of the country with entries being produced by the couples themselves and which must show their faces.
Dr Ajayi also appealed to corporate individuals and organization to support the initiative so that the number of beneficiaries to be treated will increase beyond the current scope.
He added that the high cost of the treatment is actually driving many couples away but he expressed optimism that with gestures like this, more couples who are suffering from infertility will be bold to express themselves.
