A gang of unidentified men on Monday evening kidnapped a Chinese engineer, Cui Fu Long X on site in Toto, headquarters of Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The kidnap victim is the Project Manager of the rehabilitation project on a 1983 water scheme along Adadu Road, Daily Trust learnt.
A gang of seven men stormed the site and took him away at gun point in presence of the seven of the construction workers, the police said on Tuesday.
Dr. Salisu Muhammad Raj, state Focal Person in charge of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), sponsors and supervisors of the state-owned water project, also confirmed the kidnap, but added that CCGC Nigeria Limited, the firm where the victim is serving as an expatriate is yet to make an official report to them.
He said the MDGs in the state received an unofficial report that the Chinese expatriate was kidnapped to an unknown destination.
He said he is not aware of any ransom placed because CCGC is yet to speak to him on the incident.
Engineer Simon Ibi, General Manager of the state Water Board also confirmed the incident.
State police spokesman, ASP Umaru Ismaila confirmed the too saying the gunmen stormed the construction site at about 4:22pm, all armed with rifles and shot sporadically to scare off workers.
