Experts under the aegis of Cyber Security Experts Association of Nigeria (CSEAN) have lauded the President Elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari on his planned determination to fight corruption in the country.
The association said the resolve of the former military Head of State was timely because corruption has been bane of the nation's overall progress.
CSEAN President, Remi Afon, in a statement said corruption needed to be dealt with once and for all to bring sanity back to the nation.
While congratulating the President Elect, the association urged Buhari to look into the threats and potentials of cyber security in a growing economy like Nigeria.
"The internet and digital technologies are transforming our society by driving economic growth, connecting people and providing new ways to communicate and cooperate with one another.
“The internet will become increasingly central to the economy and society and the growing role of cyberspace has also opened up new threats as well as new opportunities. A collective effort is required, driven by government," he added.
Afon acknowledged the statesmanship exhibited by the outgoing President Goodluck Jonathan for quickly conceding defeat to douse tension.
"Nigerians were yearning for change and change has indeed come. Expectations are high which makes the tasks ahead tough but we have faith in the ability of the President Elect to effect the necessary changes so that Nigeria can once again take its leadership position in Africa,” he said.
