A group, under the aegis of Grassroots Mobilizers for Buhari (GMB), has commended the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmud Yakubu, for extending the voters registration exercise for another two weeks across the country.
The national chairperson of the group, Dr. Fatima Mohammed Goni, gave the commendation while addressing newsmen in her office in Abuja yesterday.
She said the two weeks’ extension by the commission would enable eligible voters across the country to register and obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).
She said the group, with coordinators across the 36 states and the FCT, has been going round to educate and enlighten people at the grassroots on the need to obtain their PVCs so that they could vote for President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 election.
According to her, the group has confidence in INEC under the present leadership as an electoral umpire in conducting free, fair and credible elections in 2019.
