The labour leaders made their position known on Tuesday shortly after a meeting with the deputy governor in Lafia where the state NLC chairman and leader of the organized labour, Comrade Abdullahi Adeka, briefed newsmen at the end of a closed door meeting with him.

He said their decision is based on Agara’s labour-friendly disposition.

Adeka promised to mobilize the entire workers of Nasarawa in support of Agara to succeed his principal in 2019 as one of their own and the most qualified to lead the state after Governor Tanko Al-Makura.

"Civil servants in Nasarawa state can only anoint aspirant that is labour-friendly and not any one who does not knows the pains of workers," he said.

He maintained that as a civil service state, Nasarawa will do better economically and socially when the people of Agara’s like minds are given the mandate to lead the state.

Earlier in his remark, the deputy governor, Hon. Silas Ali Agara, who summoned the meeting informed the labour leaders of his aspiration and solicited their support with a pledge to make workers welfare and that of pensioners his priority if given the mandate.
