The Chairman of Contact Committee on Kwankwasiyya Movement, in Enugu State, Col. Usman Garun Mallam (rtd) has said that the leadership crisis which erupted in state Chapter of the political organization has been resolved amicably.
Although the Contact Committee members had come to Enugu to inform supporters of Kwankwaso on the need to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) just like their national leader, Senator Rabiu Kwankwazo officially dumped the All Progressive Congress for the PDP, but sudden commotion erupted from the leadership crisis in the chapter.
Daily Trust was informed that the Kwankwasiyya Movement is a political organization working for the actualization of the presidential ambition of former Governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso in the 2019 general election.
It was gathered that when the Chairman and key members of the Contact Committee visited Enugu at the weekend to harmonise few issues in the state chapter, trouble reportedly broke out and dragged on for some time, forcing the meeting to last longer than necessary. The cause of the crisis during the event which took place at the Gold Value Hotel, New Haven, Enugu was alleged imposition of candidates who, sources said, “just joined the group yesterday.”
But reacting to the development in an interview with Daily Trust in Enugu, Col Garun Mallam, who was Special Adviser on Security in Kwankwazo’s administration said: “We have resolved the crisis. The reason for the crisis is obvious because the leadership we had was when we were in APC.
“You cannot rule out that some people may have the option not to follow us to PDP. So when they didn’t follow us to PDP, then we have the option to look for another leadership. Like our coordinator in Enugu here; he has left us and he’s in APC. The Contact chairman didn’t follow us to PDP, and that’s why we are in Enugu to restructure and reorganize. And we have done it successfully.”
On why Nigerians should vote Kwankwaso as President in next year’s election, he said: “The citizens have been clamouring for Kwankwaso to come out and contest for the presidency in 2019 because of his track records of achievements when he served as Kano State Governor.
“It is a known fact that when he was governor in Kano, he turned around Kano State. Before in Kano, there was no single flyover bridge but he had made a lot of flyover bridges there, thereby decongesting the traffic jam. He has done a lot of empowerment of people. He sent thousands of children from poor families abroad to study on scholarship programme and today some of them have acquired various types of university degrees. Besides, he has sent some of them to aviation school where they trained as pilots in Jordan".
